The University of Goroka had launched its Strategic Plan 2023 - 2027 and Corporate Plan 2023 - 2027 on Friday the 25th of August 2023 with Professor Fr Jan Czuba, the Acting Secretary for the Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology as the Guest of Honour at the Mark Solon Auditorium, University of Goroka.

The University continues to meet the Nation’s need for teacher education. The University has diversified to provide content programs. It will now refocus on providing Quality Teacher Education with providing resources to the 10 Pillars of this Strategic Plan that are aligned to the Government of Papua New Guinea’s Medium Term Development Plan IV (MTDP IV).

The 10 Pillars are:

  1. Institutional Governance and Leadership.

  2. Learning and Teaching.

  3. Research, Innovation and Application.

  4. Information and Communication Development.

  5. University-Community Engagement for Sustainable Development.

  6. Institutional Strengthening and Relevance.

  7. Student and Staff Support Services.

  8. Partnership, Linkage and Collaboration.

  9. Infrastructure Development and Resilience.

  10. Business Investments and Finance.
